The fire on Suva Planina, which broke out on 4 September, has been extinguished. No one was killed or injured and no buildings burned down. Because of the inaccessible terrain and strong wind, the fire was first localised and then put out. Units from Niš, Pirot, Gadžin Han, Doljevac and Zaječar took part, along with volunteer fire brigades, civil protection, workers of the public company Srbijašume, members of the Serbian-Russian Humanitarian Centre, local mountaineering clubs and motorcycle clubs. In total 1,014 people and 489 vehicles were deployed; the Interior Ministry's helicopter unit flew 55 sorties and an Il-76 crew flew 19 more. During this season 13,002 open-air fires have been extinguished in Serbia.
