Serbia's Protector of Citizens will organise round-the-clock duty starting on 25 October, the day of the snap parliamentary elections, so that citizens can report possible rights violations during and after the election process.

The institution said the duty is meant to keep it available during a period of particular importance for the exercise of constitutional rights and to allow timely responses to complaints within its remit.

It stressed that the duty is carried out within its statutory powers and does not mean taking over the competences of election commissions, courts or other bodies authorised to decide on election matters.
