The Bajina Bašta reversible hydro plant has been fully refurbished after more than four decades in operation, with a 35 million euro investment, Elektroprivreda Srbije said today.

With two units and 614 megawatts of capacity, the plant is one of the key points of Serbia's power system and an important support for integrating wind and solar energy.

The construction of the new Bistrica pumped-storage plant is described as a strategic energy project, as rising electricity demand and a growing share of renewables put such plants at the forefront.
